Protege Gala and Results Night - Breakaway

I have to apologize for the one week delay of this post. :(

GALA NIGHT:

The Protégé’s performed some of the OPM (Original Pinoy Music) greatest hits; the judges are now complete with Ms. Eula Valdez again as the Guest Judge. And, SM Fairview is the new venue of this show.

PERFORMANCE RANKING:

So Wat - Beep -Beep

6. So WatBeep-Beep/Balong Malalim
It was another safe and a forgettable performance. C+

Lirah - Bulong/Huling El Bimbo

5. Lirah BermudezBulong/Huling El Bimbo
Another not so good performance from Lirah, it was a bit forced and I really don’t like dancing routine at the beginning I think it was not appropriate. Sorry! C+

Lovely - Halik
 4. Lovely EmbuscadoHalik
That was a good rendition although there are some flaws at the beginning of the performance. B

Kenneth - Bakit Pa Ba?
3. Kenneth MonicoBakit Pa Ba?
Kenneth is BACK. I love the arrangement and the techniques that he show. What I didn’t like is the use of Kris Lawrence as a back-up singer. WTH! B+

Jensen - Anak
2. Jensen TeñosoAnak
Jensen did a really great job here. I like the voice and how she belt out the song. Jonalyn Viray is a really a great addition to this wonderful performance. A-

Krizza - Narda
 1 . Krizza NerriNarda
I’m getting tired of Krizza’s performance because she always delivers it very well (LOL). The unplugged arrangement was excellent and Krizza is (Randy Jackson Voice) “IN IT TO WIN IT”. A

THOUGHTS:

Great show again. Kudos to the Protégé Staff! The Judges were a little pissed especially with Rey Valera's group because of what they said in Inside Protégé, this was the most intense episode the judges give hard pointers.WOW!

RESULT SHOW:

The show opened with the four eliminated Protégés singing Breakaway (Wonderful Song), I’m happy to see Denise, Rosalyn, Nomer and especially Samantha back on the stage.

Krizza and Jensen was Safe! YAY!
Lirah and Lovely is in the Bottom Two! OMG!
So Wat and Kenneth was Safe! Grrr!

This was far the most shocking bottom two. Both are great singers and fan favorites.

In the End,

LOVELY EMBUSCADO and Jaya was Eliminated.

I was really surprised that Lovely gets the boot because her performance was nowhere from bad, it still think So Wat is more deserving to be voted out, but between her and Lirah, Lirah should go she shows  another so-so performance compare to what Lovely did. But, Oh Well!

THIS WEEK : Wildcard Round

I'm rooting for Samantha and Lovely!

James Durbin - Love Me Bad

Another American Idol Season 10 finalist, James Durbin finally released his first single "Love Me Bad" off to his debut Album "Memoirs of a Beautiful Disaster", which is due this week (U.S. only).

I was surprised when i hear the song, because I thought James want to make Metal music, this track was in a pop-rock genre. Nevertheless, the song will help him to grow his fanbase and the melody of this song  great, catchy and a  future Top 40 wannabe.

LISTEN HERE:

Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams - " Baby It's Cold Outside"

Haley and Casey
Two of my favorite American Idol Season 10 contestant collaborated for a Christmas single, Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams do a jazz cover of the famous Christmas song " Baby It's Cold Outside".

I really love Haley's voice, jazz is really the best genre for her and Casey makes this song interesting. They released a quirky video of this song, and it's currently at the Top 10 Music Video list of iTunes.

Watch the Music Video Here :

P.S. I can't wait for Haley's Studio Album Next Year!

Protege Gala and Results - Don't Wanna GO Home

Don't Wanna Go Home!

Denise Ysabel Barbacena is the last booted out contestant in Protégé, whose dream will cut off NEXT??

GALA NIGHT:
The Protégé’s should sing with their respective Mentors, I expecting a lot of Solid performance and Good Harmonies. Miss Eula Valdez is back as a gust judge to fill in to Mr. Louie Ocampo while Jennylyn Mercado and Ogie Alacasid fill in Dindong Dantes as the Gala Presentor.

Protégé Performance Ranking:

Nomer Limatog Jr.

7. Nomer Limatog Jr. & Rachelle Anne Go Bohemian Rhapsody
I think the song is too big for Nomer and it was not as good as his past performance, the lack of practice is the main reason for this performance. B-

SO WAT

6. So Wat & Rey Valera - Malayo Pa Ang Umaga
That was a safe performance, the judges were right they should bring their group to the next level. They should do K-Pop (lol).  B-

5. Kenneth Monico & Jay-R - Lately
The performance was good but it’s a little bit forgettable. And I thought Stafano Langone (American Idol) did a better job in this song. B

Jensen Teñoso

4. Jensen Teñoso & Claire Dela FuenteColors of the Wind
I was surprised with the song choice it was a little bit odd (because it was from an animated movie) but Jensen delivers it well and I like how her voice fits the song. Good Job.  B+

Lirah Bermudez

3. Lirah Bermudez & Janno Gibbs - Hallelujah/Nosi Balasi
OPM Mas-UP! I love the fact, that Lirah show how wide her range and the whole performance was good, the arrangement with Janno and the back-up singers was the highlight of this performance though. A-

Lovely Embuscado

2. Lovely Embuscado & JayaBaliw
The song was quite funny, Lovely was great, the high notes at the end was insane although that’s a bit predictable. I love their tandem. A-

Krizza Neri

1. Krizza Nerri & Aiza SeguerraIf I Could/Wind Beneath My Wings
OMG! OMG! And another OMG! (LOL!) Awesome Rendition, my Favorite Performance so far in this competition, that was very emotional, both singers nailed it. I NEED A STUDIO VERSION! A+

THOUGHTS:

Amazing Show, It feels like watching X-Factor, the lights, props and the performance are all level up. Ms. Eula Valdez is likeable this week and Jennylyn Mercado spice up the show, this was my favorite episode. GREAT JOB Protege Staff!

Results Night:
The Protege's opened the result show singing Jason Derulo’s Don’t Wanna GO Home. I Love it and I can feel the energy from the audience.

BOTTOM TWO :

Kenneth and Nomer was in the bottom group.

Nomer Limatog Jr. is The fourth Protégé eliminated from the competition.

WOW! The result is kinda surprising because Nomer was a frontrunner to this competition, but his performance this week was not as GREAT (actually, it was his weakest) from his past performance. Good luck to his career and I hope he continue his studies.

GLEE Preview : Rumour Has It/Someone Like You

Santana

This is It! Glee is doing an Adele Mash-Up of Rumour Has It and Someone Like You performed by the new rivals of New Directions, The Troublestones.

The Mash-Up was just Amazing, Amber Riley (Mercedes) is good but Naya Rivera (Santana) is insanely great, the emotions (the way she looks at Britanny) and the way she sing got me to love her more.

The performance will be shown on Sixth episode of the series entitled,  Mash Off.

Here's The Full Performance of Troublestones singing Rumour Has It/Someone Like You:

LSS : Westlife - Lighthouse

Westlife - Lighthouse

This is it! The last lead single (Yes, because they are going to split up next year) from the Boy Band that play a big part of my childhood. Westlife released "Lighthouse" from their final album "The Greatest Hits", for years i didn't know that they are still existing as a boy-band, until the Gravity Tour this year.
The song for me was pop-jazz track, I really love the lyrics of this song especially the first line "This kind of love is more than a lifeline for a man who's weak as me, who has no self believe", it was like how they fell in love in music. Shane and Mark are really good vocalist and I'am hoping for this song to be their 15th number one in UK. And also i'm wishing that i can watch Greatest Hits Tour.

Here's the Music Video of Lighthouse :

P.S. The Music Video was filmed at South Africa

Protégé Gala and Result Night - Sparks Fly

Samantha Felizco with her mentor Side A’s Joey Generoso bids their goodbye to the show last week (SHOOT!). Eight contenders left and they are ready to battle for the big break.

GALA NIGHT:
Mr. Joey De Leon is back and adding spice to the table is Ms. Eula Valdez as the guest judge for this week. The theme was Song to Impress (I thought it was songs from International Filipino Singers), and I’m ready to be impress by the contestant, or NOT (lol).

Protégé Performance Ranking:

8. So Wat Faithfully (Journey)
Nice Blending, I didn’t like the song choice nor the performance is like watching Glee Cast practicing there’s no entertainment value. C+

7. Lirah Bermudez – Bring Me To Life (Evanescence)
This is Lirah Worst performance, the song doesn’t fit her and I feel awkward watching her singing this Evanescence track. B-

6. Kenneth MonicoOpen Arms (Journey/Mariah Carey)
It was an okay performance and he’s doing the best that he could just to stay in this competition. B

5. Denise Barbacena – Sparks Fly (Taylor Swift)
I like Denise voice here, very relax and she was having fun. B

4. Lovely Embuscado Pangarap na Bituin (Sharon Cuneta)
It was a good performance, the violinist obviously is nervous that’s why the music is kinda out of tune in the beginning, but Lovely didn’t mind that. B+

3. Jensen TeñosoAll in Love is Fair (Stevie Wonder)
Jensen delivered her performance so well, I like the fact that she not overdid it and she was stunning during her spot. A-

2. Krizza NerriIf I Ain’t Got You (Alicia Keys)
I love the arrangement was awesome, the big band was a great idea and Krizza show how high her range, although there are some parts there that are off it was forgivable because her throat was not okay. A

1. Nomer Limatog Jr. – Baby, I Love Your Way (Big Mountain)
Nomer was amazing last night, he performs this song so well and the emotions coming from a 10 year old boy is unbelievable. A

THOUGHTS:

Eula Valdez was a very technical judge though sometimes she is a bit annoying, but I still prefer Ms. Cherie Gil. The performances was good and better than last week, the OBB is great (the best so far) and the Sky Flakes promo is still annoying.

Results Night:
The mentors perform Lean on Me/I’ll Stand By You. It was good but too much Jay-R.

The contenders were divided into two groups:

Group 1:
Jensen.Krizza.Lovely.Denise

Group 2:
Lirah.Nomer.So Wat.Kenneth

Group two was announced safe (seriously? So Wat?).

Lovely and Jensen is Safe.
Krizza is Safe.

Denise Barbacena was the third eliminated Protégé.

I’m kinda sad that Denise was voted out in the competition (although I’m expecting it), because Gloc9 was not there to support him, and I still can’t imagine why the staff of this show didn’t allow Miss Cookie Chua(Denise co-mentor) to be there with Denise (WTH).

Album Review : Kelly Clarkson STRONGER!

Album Cover

Stronger is the fifth studio album of the original American Idol, I have high hopes to this album only because Kelly herself said that "This is my best album", so i'm expecting a lot.

Back Cover

Here's my track by track Review :

1. Mr Know It All - The lead single from this album. I don't like it when i first heard it but this is definitely a grower. The song was cool and sassy. A-
2.What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) - This song is more likely the second single, this is an anthem and for sure it will definitely perform well on the charts. I love this song! A+
3. Dark Side - The sound of the music box at the intro gave me chills, the song was beautifully written and Kelly's vocals here was just amazing. The song is like "One and Only" by Adele, both tracks are begging for love. A
4. Honestly -  The first ballad on this album, Kelly continues to amaze me with her vocal range. I love the lyrics of it very heartfelt. A+
5. You Love Me - 80's tune (Yes!) The song was co-written by Kelly and this track was a catchy one. A
6. Einstein -  formerly "Dumb + Dumb = You", this song was about breaking up and one of my favorite things which is MATH, although the track has some cheesy lines this was one of the most played songs on my music player. A+
7. Standing In Front Of You - One of the tracks I usually skipped, there is something lacking in this song, although it slowly growing on me. B+
8. I Forgive You - This song is all about how hard to forgive someone and Kelly make it interesting because it was upbeat. A-
9. Hello - Another 80's inspired song, every time i hear this track I usually sing-song and i also feel energize. A+
10. The War is Over - The song was beautiful in every way. A+
11. You Love Me - One of my early Favorite track, the song is all about break-up and anger. A
12. You Can't Win - My favorite Leaked Track, Kelly write and sing a song about bullying and why life is unfair to everybody. A+
13. Breaking Your Own Heart - Another Ballad that has a country vibe on it, Kelly shows versatility and sincerity in this song. A-
CD

DELUXE EDITION

14. Don't You Wanna Stay (feat. Jason Aldean) - Country song, that makes Kelly a versatile singer and her vocal range here is insane. B+
15. Alone - I don't know why this song is not included in the standard edition, the track was amazing, Kelly worked hard for this record. A+
16. Don't Be A Girl About It - I was surprised that this song made it in this album because the leak version is lame but when i hear the final version, i easily like this track. A-
17. The Sun Will Rise - The song was no my cup of tea, although Kelly together with Kara DioGuardi did a great job in this song. B

Overall the album is a MUST-BUY, every song is amazing and Kelly showed everything she can offer. I must say that this is my favorite Kelly Clarkson Album. Sorry My December!lol!

5/5

Protege Gala and Result Night - Could Have Been?

Last Week, Rosalyn with her mentor Ms. Imelda Papin (The Jukebox Queen) is eliminated from the competition. The Lucky Nine Battle it out to win that big break. This is Protégé : The Battle for Big Break (LMAO).

GALA NIGHT:

The theme for this week Gala is SWITCH. It means that a mentor will chose another Protégé and assigned him/her a song.
And because Mr. Joey De Leon was in Singapore, they invited Ms. Cherie Gil as a Guest Judge.

9.  Denise Barbacena - Thank You
Switch Mentor: Jay-R
Denise has a Sweet Voice but she sang this song so plain and boring. Sue Ellen (Pinoy Idol) version is way better. B-

8.  Samantha Felizco – Decode (Paramore)
Switch Mentor: Aiza Seguerra
This is not a good song choice. The performance was a bit forced and she didn’t hit some of the notes. But, I still love the uniqueness in her voice. B-

7.  Kenneth Monico – Can't Keep On Loving You
Switch Mentor: Joey Generoso
I still think that Kenneth was holding back during his performance. Vocally he was good but he was better than that. B-

6.  So Wat – Every Breath You Take (The Police)
Switch Mentor: Rachelle Ann Go
As contrary to what the judges said, I liked the performance it was better last week. B

5. Nomer Limatog – If I Had You (Adam Lambert)
Switch Mentor: Janno Gibbs
The Energy was there. But the song doesn’t fit him. B

4. Jensen Tenoso – You and I – Lady Gaga
Switch Mentor: Jaya
The performance was great. I love the song choice (my favorite song from Born This Way), she add new flavor to the song although I think the end part was overdone. B+

3. Lirah Bermudez – Don’t Speak (No Doubt)
Switch Mentor: Claire Dela Fuente
This is the track that Lirah should play the guitar, I don’t know what she’s thinking to set aside using the guitar, but her voice was just flawless. I love her rendition. Effortless. A-

2. Lovely Embuscado – Beautiful (Christina Aguilera)
Switch Mentor: Rey Valera (but as a birthday gift Mr. Rey let Lovely to chose her song)
She’s back. The songs fit her in every way. I love how she hits those high notes and you can feel that she is selling the song to you. A-

1. Krizza Neri – Could Have Been (Tiffany)
Switch Mentor: Gloc 9
Wow! Krizza nailed it. It was Simple, Clean and Moving, A

Honestly, last week performance was better, Hosting was improved; The Sky Flakes spiel is annoying. Ms. Cherie Gil as a judge give freshness and new exciting flavor to the show, she is honest and straight forward. PETITION: Ms. Cherrie Gil as a Permanent Judge.

RESULT NIGHT:

NO Opening Number!
The Protégé was divided into three groups.

First Group: Jensen, So Wat and Lovely.
Second Group: Lirah, Nomer and Krizza
Last Group: Denise, Samantha and Kenneth.

Second Group was Safe. (YAY)

First Group was also safe.

The Last Group was also the Bottom Three.

Kenneth was safe. (Roll eyes)
Denise was safe.

Samantha Felizco from Dagupan and her mentor Joey Generoso was the eliminated team. (WTH!)

I’m pissed off about the result not just because of Sam leaving the competition this early, also because of how they handle the issue between Sam and Denise. I hate the fact that they only show Sam interview, if all of the Protege was asked the same question.
Well okay, that’s life, hoping the best for Sam; she is amazing in every way.

NEXT THEME: Songs from Filipino International Artist (i.e. Bruno Mars and Charice).
